Image Generation
Create AI-generated images directly within your conversations. This capability lets you visualize concepts, create diagrams, and generate visual content without leaving the chat interface.
Enabling Image Generation
- Click the image icon in the chat toolbar (next to Web Search)
- The icon turns blue when enabled
- Ask the AI to create, draw, visualize, or generate an image
- The AI will produce an image based on your description
You must enable image generation using the toolbar toggle before the AI can create images. The toggle controls whether the image generation tool is available to the AI.
General Examples
Create visual content for any purpose:
Business Graphics
Create an image of a modern glass office building at sunsetProcess Diagrams
Generate a flowchart showing project approval workflowSystem Diagrams
Draw a diagram of a building's HVAC system layoutOrganizational Charts
Create an organizational chart for a construction project teamAEC-Specific Examples
Generate construction and architecture-related visuals:
Conceptual Design
Create a conceptual rendering of a lobby with exposed concrete columns and floor-to-ceiling glass wallsSite Planning
Generate a bird's-eye view site plan showing building footprint, parking areas, and landscaping zonesSafety & Signage
Draw a construction site safety sign showing required PPE: hard hat, safety vest, and steel-toed bootsTechnical Visualization
Create a visual showing a steel beam-to-column moment connection with bolted end plateProgress Documentation
Generate an image showing construction progress stages: foundation, framing, and enclosed buildingViewing and Downloading Images
Generated images appear inline in your conversation:
- Click to expand - View the full-size image in a modal
- Download - Save the image to your device using the download button
- Persistent storage - Images are saved and persist when you reload the page
- Original prompt - The expanded view shows your original prompt for reference
Image Gallery
Browse and manage all your AI-generated images in one place at /images.
Access the Gallery:
- Click Images in the sidebar navigation
- Or navigate directly to
/images
Gallery Features:
- Grid View - See all your generated images in a visual grid
- Click to Open - Click any image to open its original conversation with the viewer expanded
- Delete Images - Remove images directly from the gallery (deletes from storage and database)
- Chronological Order - Images displayed newest first
Use the sidebar’s Images link to quickly browse everything you’ve generated, find a specific image, or clean up images you no longer need.
Performance
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Generation time | 5-15 seconds |
| Rate limit | ~20 images per hour |
| Output format | PNG (~1024x1024) |
| Prompt length | Up to 4,000 characters |
Limitations
- Content policies - Generated content must comply with AI safety guidelines
- Technical drawings - Complex CAD-style technical drawings may require multiple iterations to refine
- Not a replacement for CAD/BIM - Use for conceptual visuals, not production documentation
- Iterative refinement - You may need to adjust your prompt for best results
Image Generation is currently a general-purpose capability. We’re developing specialized AEC features including architectural rendering styles, construction documentation visuals, and BIM-integrated visualization tools. See the Roadmap for details.
Tips for Better Results
Be Descriptive
Include details about:
- Style (photorealistic, diagram, sketch, 3D render)
- Composition (bird’s eye, perspective, elevation)
- Colors and materials
- Specific elements to include
Use AEC Terminology
The AI understands construction industry terms:
- “Section view”, “elevation”, “plan view”
- “Moment connection”, “curtain wall”, “clerestory”
- “Site logistics”, “phasing diagram”, “milestone chart”
Iterate and Refine
If the first result isn’t perfect:
- Be more specific about what to change
- Reference the previous image (“make it more detailed”)
- Ask for variations (“show an alternative design”)
